Empty rigid containers such as detergent bottles. Remove residue. Do not mix hazardous chemical containers with household recyclables.
Empty beverage cans. Drain liquids and keep them clean and dry.
Flatten dry boxes. Keep wet, greasy or food-soiled cardboard separate.
Keep newspapers and office paper dry. Separate tissues, laminated paper and food-soiled paper.
